Finishing that works: soft-touch, UV coating and hot foil

Finishing often decides the first impression on the shelf. Three techniques we use particularly often:

• Soft-touch – velvety feel, looks premium and reduces fingerprints.
• UV coating – spot gloss as a contrast to matt areas, for accents on the logo or artwork.
• Hot foil – metallic gold/silver effects for an elegant, prestige appearance.

These effects can be combined with embossing for extra depth. Important: set finishing areas as a separate layer in the print file.
